“How often should you email your list?”
This is a question which always makes for an interesting debate. Many self-proclaimed email marketing experts (I call them “egg-sperts” because a lot of them have never actually run a successful business) preach how you should email your list when you’ve got something to sell.
Their reasoning is that you will “burn out” your email list if you email people too often.
I massively disagree.
Yesterday, I received the following email from a subscriber to my own email list:
“I told one email marketing ‘egg-spert’ as you call them that I’m now emailing my list every day. Also I said how this email strategy is actually working because in the last month my sales have nearly doubled. (Although my business is only 4 months old so I would expect my sales to increase anyway month to month, but it’s still a blooming good return!) But when I told this egg-spert, he said I should stop doing daily email and email my list once a week instead. I disagree with him, but what are your thoughts on this strategy?”
Well, my thoughts are simple…
Compared to emailing your list every single day of the week, it’s a rubbish strategy.
After all, your results prove daily email works.
So ignore the egg-spert.
But, here’s the thing: This isn’t just a one-off case of egg-sperts being in denial over the power of daily email.
You see, egg-sperts keep telling me how it won’t work.
They tell me it will “burn out” my list.
They tell me I’d make more sales by emailing my list just once every so often.
My response?
I started writing 2 emails a day.
And guess what?
Things have got even better. So much for the egg-sperts, hey.
But it’s not just me who’s telling you to do daily email. Oh no. Ben Settle does daily email. Paul Mort does daily email. Both of whom are genuine experts
In fact, I even heard of one guy who emails his list 4 times… Every. Single. Day. And doing very well apparently. (Jeez, I need to up my game!)
So moral of the story?
You’ll put more money in your bank by emailing your list daily.
Of course, you need to make sure you’re sending high-quality emails… Emails that persuade people to buy. If you’re not, then emailing your list daily probably will burn your list out. Which really wouldn’t make for a successful email marketing campaign.
