Build a list, the money is in the list. If you want to have unlimited income build a list, I have read and heard these statements numerous times.
Say I have followed this advise and I now have a list of 1,000 people. They have visited my blog or have seen a post on Facebook and decided to opt-in to receive more information. Here are four scenarios I could follow.
1) I could send emails to everyone on my list 3 or 4 times a week. In each mail I would ask how they are, tell them about my latest post which may be of interest and thank them for being a valued subscriber and wish them a wonderful day. Perhaps after a week or 10 days include an affiliate link and a mild sell tactic. No more than two of these emails per week.
2) I could send emails to everyone on my list 4 or 5 times a week. In each mail will be an affiliate link and a hard sell tactic. Since the money is in the list I will make all the money I can.
3) I could send 2 or 3 emails to everyone on my list. Include one affiliate link in each mail hoping they will buy. If they don’t I will simply forget about them, delete them from my list and begin to build another list. If they do buy something, fine.
4) Email everyone on the list once. Have 2 or 3 different affiliate links in each mail- then forget about them.
In each scenario I have a list of 1,000 people. If I were to follow the advise ” The money is in the list ” as is the case with 2, 3, and 4, perhaps I would make money with the links and be happy. I would be happy – the people on my list would not be as happy, and would very soon unsubscribe as all they receive are emails with links to sales pages.
Think about your own inbox for a moment. How many lists are you subscribed to? Of those how many mails do you get daily with links to buy something? If you are like me, you soon grow tired of receiving these. When I see who it is from, I would simply delete it without opening. The next day I would open one scroll to bottom and click unsubscribe.
In the first scenario I am building a relationship with my subscribers. I am giving them an opportunity to get to know me, like me and begin to have trust in me, the K.L.T. factor. Once these three are established I will be in a position to make more money from my list.
I say the MONEY IS IN THE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LIST!
The more people on your list know you, like you and trust you, the more money you are able to make from the list!
